A QUICK AND EASY 3 STEP GUIDE.
As much as I love getting new props to work with for my shoots, it can be expensive. Especially when you want something in one of every colour. So, if I can, I generally like to give something a go myself.

I've seen these dainty little hearts dotted around the internet for a while and been meaning to add some to my collection. And while you can source them relatively cheaply on places like Etsy and Facebook, it's a cute little project and they're not hard to make at all - well apart from a few jabs to the fingers by the felting pen.
I thought these could be cute for my newborn shoots and possibly for some sitter sessions if I made larger sizes also. So today I went to my local craft and fabric store and bought myself a felting needle pen and a packet of Felting fabric with several different shades of pink. I had to be a little restrained here since there were packs upon packs of beautiful shades in allllll the colours of the rainbow.

1) Start off by deciding how large you would like your heart to be. I want mine to be used for a newborn so I pulled about 8 inches of fabric off and wound it loosely into a ball.
2) Use the felting pen on the centre of your fabric, gently poking it downwards so that it holds it's form. You can then start working around the edges to start building your shape.

3) You can decide how poofy or solid you wish your heart to be. Pressing the fabric more tightly together while using the felting pen knits the fabric together a lot more tightly. I tend to do this more at the bottom where it comes down to a point. Change the amount of fabric and how tightly you felt to create different sizes and textures. The choices are never ending!
